Why is HSE Monthly Report Important to Do?

HSE Report

The monthly work safety report is a collection of the results of the achievement of activities or the implementation of work safety programs from day to day within a certain month's time period by showing and quantifying the Lagging and Leading criteria to measure expectations and performance results. This report is made in a certain document format that has been standardized and approved by the highest management of a company and a control document of a company.

Safety performance with low accidents and in line with the maximum operational technical effort for work safety programs that achieves expectations, is a company image that can be the main consideration in a project tender proposal.

It is called the lagging criterion because the data presented is the number or accident statistics, which means that the work safety program is not running optimally if there are still high accident records. Meanwhile, it is called a leading or leadership criterion because it contains records of management efforts implementation programs to reduce the level of work accidents in the workplace.

Why is this monthly safety report very important to be made and reported, the reason is that it is a requirement in the international standard OHSAS 18001 of 2007 in sub-element 4.4.1 that the HSE performance report is presented to the Management Leadership and to the sub-elements 4.5.1 performance measurement and monitoring, which requires measurement and monitoring of HSE performance.

The company's performance in the field of occupational safety and health is relative, because no work safety and health has ever been perfect, so the best can always be strived for.

Accidents are a lagging indicator for the performance or performance of a company's work safety. Indicators that are constantly recorded and updated with data related to accidents are the number of accidents based on the classification of accidents, namely fatal accidents, property or equipment damage, injuries require first aid, injuries require medical treatment, injuries require lost work days (lost time injury) ), spills of hazardous or toxic materials into the environment.

To assess performance, it is necessary to make a quantification of the assessment to measure expectations and results of achievement. In the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) published a standard method for measuring performance using the accident frequency ratio or the accident severity ratio.

That is the very reason why the HSE monthly report is important. Hopefully it can provide good benefits. Always prioritize occupational health and safety. Because all of those things are top priority. And thank you for visiting.
